Why I would vote Shabana Azmi any day.

Shabana Azmi does not need an introduction. But apart from the tremendously superb body of work that she has to show for herself as far as Indian cinema is concerned, she also has other feathers in her proverbial cap. Her presence is felt very vividly in the political and social circles and her latest work to help the women of her native village gain independence is being applauded loudly and clearly.

Mijwan, a small village in Azamgarh, is her paternal place. However, unlike several other people who hail from small places but seldom turn back to do any good for them once they have attained success, Shabana Azmi has been known to work extensively for her native place. An example in this case is the initiative that she has taken in order to uplift the women of the village. Reportedly, she had invited top designer Manish Malhotra to design for a charity fashion show which is meant to showcase the chikankari talent of the village girls. Shabana Azmi has been instrumental in mobilizing the movement whereby the village folks have opened their hearts and minds to the concepts of female education, self employment and empowerment.

The event to showcase the chikankari embroidery is scheduled to be held on 23rd January at Mumbai and will have 24 celebs walking the ramp wearing clothes made by these village lasses.

We need more of such celebs who go all out to create awareness, employment and change in the society. More celebs who chose to give rather than just take.

IRRFAN KHAN – The most undervalued Khan?

Somebody very rightly said once “The only Khan that Hollywood knows is Irrfan Khan”. A powerhouse of talent, Irrfan’s unique and often understated way of acting set him apart from his peers. Another thing that sets him apart is that he is probably one of the most talented yet undervalued star around. It took several Hollywood movies for him to make himself a known face in India. His talent was being wasted in mediocre TV series while our film industry paid several crores to the other Khans, Kapoors and Kumars.

Irrfan Khan struggled for more than a decade before he could get due recognition. In 2001, Asif Kapadia’s The Warrior made him well known in industry circles. Thereafter he landed The Load to Ladakh and Maqbool in 2003 and then Rog in 2005. Even after having acted in several reputed Hollywood projects and quite a few desi movies, Irrfan gets few roles that deserve him.

Interestingly enough, since Irrfan Khan lends a certain quality to whatever he does, he can make a masterpiece out of anything – like the Vodafone ads he did at one point of time made the brand stand out.

His most well known work includes Life In A Metro, A Mighty Heart, The Namesake, Rog and Maqbool. Soon, he will be seen in a lead role in Sudhir Mishra’s Yeh Saali Zindagi, which is being publicized as a humorous and romantic thriller.

Shahrukh Khan - The Magician who robbed hearts

Shahrukh Khan is a person who needs no introduction. He came into the phillum industry and he conquered all hearts. Shahrukh rocks for several reason, but most important of them all is the fact that Shahrukh Khan is an intelligent actor. Let’s see how this works for him:

1. He has a sharp sense of market demand. He knows his audience and chooses projects according to that.
2. He has an acute sense of what works for him and on him. Amazingly enough, he is able to carry off any number of get-ups, character changes and roles of all ages. He looks amazing with streaked hair and at the same time he looks wonderful with a stubble.
3. He works hard. SRK knows that success doesn’t happen just like that, one needs to make it happen. From his Fauji days he has had an insatiable hunger for success and so he has always put in the best in anything and everything he has done.
4. He has kept a fine balance between in his larger-than-life on-screen persona and his common dude face of everyday. Thus he maintains a certain charisma while keeping a connect with the common man.

Shahrukh is a face that could very well be the face of the Indian Film Industry. In the 20 odd years he has worked in Bollywood, he has gained immense fan following.
SRK is a family man and amazingly his name has not been linked with any female co-worker. This, in itself is no small achievement. His dedicated father and hubby act is something that many actors can take a example of.

SRK is also actively involved with several NGOs like Make A Wish foundation and some other NGOs. He spends time with orphaned and terminally ill children and tries to spread cheer with the aid of his charismatic persona.

We, his immense fans wish him the best in his life and career.
